THE QUESTION

THE ANSWER

This Ibeji clearly shows everything she lived, with several losses, breakages, and abrasions, particularly in the back of the hairstyle, in the base, and in different parts of the body.

The neck and to the wrists are adorned with metal rings, named locally "manillas", which are the signs that the Ibeji is a follower of the orisha OGUN, god of iron and war.

The position of the hands, and particularly of the thumbs, indicates clearly the origin, the locality of Igbo Ora (Ibarapa).

This typology is displayed in the file n. 60 of the “Catalog of the Ibeji” and in the photo n. 151 of the “Encyclopedia of the Ibeji”.  Its degree of rarity is "scarce".
