Pair of Males Igan Okoto
Original text by Fausto Polo, 2013, translated to English from Italian
A beautifully carved male/male pair from Igan Okoto, in the Egbado Tribe territory.
Both Ibeji wear a pubic loin cloth untied on the back, carved on both sides of the front with small squares.
In addition to the apron, they were carved with a median ridge hairstyle, typical of the hairstyles worn by young south-eastern Yoruba men in the first half on the 20th century.
There are three scarification marks on the cheeks of each Ibeji.
Prospective buyers should know we will include newly custom-made bases in the price because both Ibeji have part of their old bases missing.
