A very interesting pair of Ibeji from the village of Ila Orangun, Igbomina tribe.
This is a work of Ogunwuyi, prolific carver until his death in 1965, well known and very appreciated by African art collectors for his modern carving style and for the expressive strength of his works.
Both statuettes have an interesting natural brown background patina, with dark red camwood traces. The hairstyle is very high and artistic, with dark paint traces. Mauro Polo
