An ancient and interesting Ibeji from the village of Ede, Oyo tribe. His author is Abogunde, carver well known and appreciated for his distinctive style.
The statuette shows an artistic hair style, consisting of plaits, three outside and one central, rising from the top of the head, with indigo powder traces. The fourth plait, in the back of the head, is missing because of a possible action of termites.
The missing part also is colored with indigo powder. The ibeji has a particular dark red/brown patina with evident traces of red camwood. Mauro Polo
