Pair Females Egbe
A very fine and antique pair from Egbe, in the Yagba tribe territory.
A splendid pair of females with the hands touching horizontally, the key characteristic of all the Ibeji carved in Egbe. Both Ibeji have also the typical coiffure composed of four braid gathered up in a central chignon. The coiffure was stained with blue Reckitt pigment. There are many scarification marks on the front and on both cheeks of the statuette. Traces of reddish camwood are still visible on the bodies of both statuettes. Ibeji from Egbe are part of every important Ibeji collection and are wanted by all the collectors.
