Pair Male & Female Oyo
A classical fine male and female pair carved by the Igbuke family.
The Igbuke family operated a workshop in the town of Oyo, in the territory of the Oyo tribe, in the first half of the 1900. All the Ibeji made in this workshop have the same key characteristics: the hairstyles is formed by four rolles of hair combined upwards combining in a chignon at the top of the head and a high and small base with two grooves all around. There are also scarifications radiating from the navel to the hips. This pair is a very nice and in very good conditions example of this classical type of Ibeji, which command a higher commercial value because was made by a known carver, a quite rare event in African Art.
