Pair of Females Omu Aran
Original text by Fausto Polo, 2012, translated to English from Italian
A fine and old pair of females from Omu Aran, in the Igbomina tribe territory.
From Fausto Polo, 2012
The carver, whose name is not known, created an Ibeji pair with important and interesting features, a long nose and long, curving arms which reach down to the feet. Both Ibeji have black beads made of coconut slices around their waist. Another special, important feature is the height of these Ibeji, almost 30 cm, more than the average Ibeji, which give them a more important presence.
Significant coverage of yellow camwood still remains on both Ibeji, while the rest of the bodies have a nice natural patina. The faces are lighter than the bodies as a result of the mother's loving caresses.
