An antique and rare male and female Ibeji pair from Ilorin, in the Oyo tribe territory.
These beautiful Ibeji are taller than average, 12", have romboidal eyes and protunding and very visible teeth.
Both statuettes have partial coverage with light red camwood patina on the body and on the base. The faces show several scarifications, the elaborate hairstyles are high and the same for male and female.
The Ibeji are enriched by many heavy iron ornaments, called manillas, on the wrists and on the ankles.
