Single Female Ilorin
Beautiful female from Ilorin, in the Oyo tribe territory
This lovely unclothed statuette is standing on a round base. The high coiffure, with traces of of indigo pigment, is composed of braids that are gathered up with a small opening in the middle. There are many scarifications on both cheeks, indicating noble origin. Necklaces and belt are made of glass beads. Traces of red camwood are still existing on the face and on the body. There are also remains of cowrie shelles fastened to one wrist.
