  • A fine Ibeji from Ilorin, in the Oyo tribe territory

This is a pleasant and smiling male Ibeji. Ibeji from Ilorin were carved with different styles by different carvers, but some had common characteristic, in this case the base. The base is rounded with carvings all around formed by crosshatched lines inclined at nearly 45 degrees to the wright and left. It has traces of a nice dark red camwood patina and wear two small beaded necklaces around the neck. The hairstyle is well carved with fine incisions.
