SINGLE IBEJI FEMALE ILA ORANGUN | IBEJI ART

This Ibeji comes from an ancient workshop located in Ila Orangun, in the territory of the Igbomina tribe. In this workshop worked three carvers, including the great master Bogunjooko, who have carved Ibeji with different characteristics, but with one common theme: the smiling face. For this reason these three carvers have the same nickname of “Master of the smiling face”. This exceptional and rare statue is one of the most desired typology of Ibeji and has a place in the best collection of Yoruba art.                              Mauro Polo
